Venchiarezza

Our winery Venchiarezza was born after 2nd World War when my grandfather, Guido, decided to dedicate himself to agriculture and improved the little family farm. At that time, most of Friulian farm families are agricultural multi-cultivation. They cultivated from cereals to fruit production, together with silkworm and cows breeding. After my grandpa discovered the potential of this territory for viticulture, he started to transform to specialize in wine production, building a new cellar, and slowly left other activities. My grandpa established the first company in Cividale area for destemming grapes. He destemmed red grapes before vilification-maceration in order to avoid bitter and herbaceous tastes released from stalks. The company was also the first to cultivate olives in Friuli region. However, during the golden age of global economy developing in year 50’, as a babyboomer, my father did not follow the agricultural sector but others. Luckily, like mosttypical Italian family company, since baby, I always stayed and worked in our vineyard with my grandpa. Against my parents’ expectation (except my grandparents’), I decided to become a winemaker. I entered the agricultural school where there was specialize for becoming a professional winemaker. Till today, I still take care and prune our old vines that my grandpa planed in year 50’. After one difficult vintage, under ”crop protection” and ‘sustainable development of environment” point of views, I decided to pass to organic agriculture. Forgetting what we have lack of respect for ambient and food also means that we do not respect ourselves. Especially when we work on something regarding to drink or to eat: we never must try to make foul play with nature. To this day, I continue to find more natural and sustainable way to produce our wines. The more I do, the more I ensure that all what our ancestors made must not be forgotten.
