La Capuccina
About
La Capuccina takes its name from the “Capuchins” monks that once owned this farm in the Province of Novara, in North-Eastern Piedmont.
Gianluca and Raffaella Zanetta renovated this old farmhouse (or “cascina”) and opened their farm-to-table restaurant in 2000, offering their own take on the traditional dishes of “Alto Piemonte” in a refined yet relaxing setting. At La Capuccina, the cuisine is based exclusively on the products of the Farm’s own gardens, as well as on cheeses, meats and other ingredients sourced from local producers.
Gianluca’s commitment to his native land is also reflected in his wine list: besides a few Grower Champagnes, he offers offers more than 350 different labels from local winemakers, and nothing else.
Soon after opening the restaurant, Gianluca and Raffaella restored another section of the Cascina, and turned it into a “Bed and Breakfast”.
In 2005, Gianluca decided to add winemaking to the already long list of his skills, and acquired a few plots of Nebbiolo and Vespolina in the neighboring appellation of Fara Novarese.
In 2013 the current version of La Capuccina’s wines were released for for sale for the first time beyond the walls of their restaurant.
